SUPERANNUATION PENSION of

G. Ragland
Farewell Programme for Mr. J. Jasper G. Ragland, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Economics on his Superannuation Pension on 31st October, 2023 was held at Auditorium, Govt. Saitual College on 1st Nov., 2023 (Wednesday).
Great teachers are a blessing and they leave unforgettable impressions on the minds and hearts of many generations of students.
1st Nov., 2023 marked a momentous occasion for the staff and students of Govt. Saitual College as a warm farewell ceremony was organized on the occasion of Superannuation pension of Sir. J. Jasper G. Ragland, Assoc. Prof. and HOD of the Dept. of Economics, who had been with the College for the last 32 years.
The programme was held at GSC Auditorium, and was presided over by Sir. P. John Tualzamang, Vice Principal, GSC. The function began with Bible reading and prayer by Ms. Grace Lalnunpuii, Asso. Prof., Dept of English, followed by a very emotional farewell song from GSC EU choir. Then, Mr. H. Lalrinawma, Head Assistant gave the service report and teaching journey of Sir Jasper, followed by heartfelt speeches from Sir Jamkhokam Touthang on behalf of Staff Welfare, Mrs. F. Lalrindiki, Treasury Officer, Sir. R. Lalruatkima, President MCTA, GSC Branch and Sir S. Thawngkhanmung, Asso. Prof., Dept of Economics. They spoke highly of Sir Jasper, admiring his sincerity and dedication and complimenting him for being a God-fearing person. They all congratulated him for his successful retirement and wished him a happy retired life.
Mementos and Leave Encashment were handed over to him as a token of gratitude and appreciation. Zonun Cultural Club, GSC entertained the gathering with their flawless and mesmerizing performances. A good number of invitees also delivered speeches, congratulating and wishing Sir Jasper the best for his future endeavour. With their sweet and mellifluous voices, songsters from GSC amused the gathering.
After this, Sir Lalzarmawia, Principal, GSC delivered a heart-rendering speech, harking back to their joyful moments in the College and mentioning some good and difficult times in Sir Jasper’s life. He thanked Sir Jasper for his valuable and dedicated service to the college and concluded his speech wishing him a happy retired life.
A short video clip on the recollection of Sir Jasper’s days from childhood till now was displayed on big screen, which made everyone emotional. Sir Jasper began his heartfelt speech by thanking God for blessing him to as far as his retirement day. He reminisced about his life’s journey and how he ended up working in GSC. He ended his speech by thanking everyone for making the day special and memorable for him. To pay homage, the staff and students presented numerous gifts to Sir Jasper. The ceremony came to an end with a very emotional song from EU choir. Overall, the function was bittersweet, as everyone was happy for Sir Jasper, but simultaneously sad to see him go.
